Adoptee Records New York Event

I’m leaning towards going to this…

The Evan B Donaldson Adoption Institute is holding an event on March 10, 2011, to “heighten public, media and policymaker awareness about the need to restore adopted adults’ right to access their original birth certificates.”

I can get down with that. Plus, I like the chance to see Adoption Peeps and Bastards in person!

The adoption event will feature the official world premiere of “I’m Legit” by Darryl (DMC) McDaniels and Zara Philips, an exceptional and moving music video ( that I didn’t go to the shooting off since the “mother” in me who wanted Christmas Eve off with the kids and won out over the “16 year old” in me who wanted to film a video. I only had one day left in time off!) that vividly brings to life the issue we’ll be focusing on that day.

Here are the Adoption Event essentials:

WHO: Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, Darryl McDaniels, prominent activists and scholars, surprise guests

WHAT: Panel presentation, Q&A and discussion of next steps based on the Institute’s “For the Records” reports

WHEN:Thursday, March 10: From 9:30 a.m. until noon; please note: light refreshments will be served

WHERE: The Hard Rock Café in Times Square, at 1501 Broadway, New York, NY 10036 (thank you Hard Rock!!!)

WHY: We believe greater knowledge/advocacy will help achieve equal rights, human dignity and social justice
