Share a Picture; Share Your Adoption Truths
I’m putting this one first because Jeff put out this request on Facebook a few days ago. For those that do not know Jeff Hancock, he is the president of the Adoptee Rights Coalition as well as being a Late Discovery Adoptee and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
History of Lies and Corruption in Adoption
Dear Friends,
I am working on a slide show and power point presentation on the history of lies and corruption in adoption. one of the sections includes lies surrounding our adoptions. I would like to show the photo of the person along with 3 or 4 sentences describing the lies, corruption, or deceit.
Please consider participating in this by private messaging me your story along with any photo you are comfortable sharing. This will be presented by me in November at a conference on adoption with the primary audience comprised of a-parents and social workers. I want to sock people in the gut with this seminar.
Also, please spread the word. I would like tons of these experiences to pick through; especially lies propagated through agencies and case-workers.
Thanks,
Jeff Hancock
If you are friends with Jeff on FB, then you can IM him there. If you are not and you are friends with me, you can and I can pass them on. You can also send them to me at Fix adoption at Gmail dot om and I will pass them on to Jeff.
This is mine:
I was told that I could keep my baby if I wanted to go on welfare which, as a nice middle class girl, horrified me. Meanwhile the nice upper class adoption agency put me on Massachusetts social services for the medical bills and then charged my son’s adoptive parents for my care. They said; “List the baby’s father as ‘unknown’ on the birth certificate” and terminated his rights via a newspaper ad, but never mentioned the child support I would be entitled to for giving birth to the only child of a NYC lawyer. Adoption was suppose to allow me to live my life “as if I was never a mother”; yet 26 years later I spend my days talking about adoption. They lied; I never got over losing my son.
Great post Claud ~ I had the same idea and my first day I wrote about the lies in adoption and also shared Jeff’s info!
