Make it OK for Adoptees in OK

Oklahoma Adoption Records

I was wondering if some first mother’s would mind writing a quick email to the Oklahoma legislators below and please point out that as first mothers you were not “promised” confidentiality, but that it was enforced upon you when you relinquished your children.

They are trying to include language about balancing “birthparent privacy” when Judge’s consider an adoptee’s request for their records, in their adoption bill and some of the legislators are trying to fight it, but need help from the public.

All the legislators below need to hear from first mothers who are in agreement with the children they gave up for adoption to be given the same rights as other citizens to obtain their birth certificates in adulthood. If you would like to cc me also I will save the letters for later, as OK is in for a long haul when it comes to this.

Here are their email addresses again, right here:
Seneca.Scott@okhouse.gov>, “pampeterson@okhouse.gov”, sallykern@okhouse.gov, “lisajbilly@okhouse.gov”, mike.sanders@okhouse.gov, dougcox@okhouse.gov, jason.nelson@okhouse.gov, purinton@oksenate.gov

They will be meeting today or tomorrow, so if you could possibly shoot them an email it would be very helpful.

Thank you!

  4. Found your blog on Circle of Moms. First moms are sorely underrepresnted on adoption blog lists. Love your blog and your links to other blogs. I mentioned your blog in my own blog post about adoption blogs (yikes, how many times did I just use the word blog?) (www.theyreallmyown.blogspot.com).

    Hi,

I’m interested in reading your blog, but the ALL CAPS make it really really difficult – it’s actually harder for the brain to read, and also difficult to judge tone, as caps are interpreted as shouting. Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude and hope you take this in the spirit it’s intended.
