Nominations Open for CCAI’s “Angels in Adoption” Awards

WHo should be honored for their adoption work?

Who REALLY Should be Honored for Their Work in Adoption?

Perhaps it can be considered our own fault that past recipients of the Angels in Adoption Awards are NOT people from our part of AdoptionLand. In the past, it seems that are large portion of the awardees are running adoption programs, of working directly to foster more adoptions, or are adoption professionals or often adoptive parents. My personal “favorite” is the named celebrities who actually win because they happen to adopt. I’m sorry, but WTF-ever!

I Challenge US; Who are OUR Angels?

I think we should change that. At least we will have more cause to complain if we are actually nominating people that WE think make a difference, rather than watching and grumbling when some other celebrity adoption makes more news.

And you know what? It’s NOT that hard to nominate someone. And ANYONE can.

Here’s the link to nominate your own real Angel in Adoption.

Official Angels Verbiage from the CCAI

“The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s (CCAI) Angels in Adoption™ Program honors individuals, couples, and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions on behalf of children in need of families. These heroes hail from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico and represent the wide spectrum of individuals involved in the adoption and foster care process. Since the program’s inception in 1999, almost 2,000 Angels have received this honor. CCAI also awards a select number of National Angels in Adoption™. As the name implies, these are individuals whose contributions in the fields of adoption or foster care have had a national impact.

Past recipients of this award include Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, Ne-Yo, PEOPLE Magazine, Nia Vardalos, Scott Fujita, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, First Lady Laura Bush, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Kristin Chenoweth, Rhea Perlman, Bruce Willis, Al Roker, Muhammad Ali, Patti LaBelle, Jane Seymour, Henry Winkler, and CBS Studios.”

Who Would You like to See Recognized for their Important Work in Adoption?

Who would OUR angles be? Should we discuss it first? Would it be beneficial if we pull a few well deserved names and then make a point of nominating them?  I can write up a glowing review. I’ll share that and a few of us can support the message to the CCAI. Let’s talk about this and take back the our Angels!
